Safe Sport

Our mission is to make athlete well-being a priority for OCR athletes worldwide. All athletes deserve to participate in OCR free from bullying, hazing, sexual misconduct or any form of emotional or physical abuse.

AFOS follows the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee, and the legislation for child safety as set out in each state and territory in Australia by each state’s government.

We are committed in creating and implementing policies to safeguard athletes and children from harassment and abuse in sport.

AFOS follows Safe Sport Codes developed by national sporting body in Australia SPORT AUS. Children and young people have the right to be safe from abuse at all times, including when they are in sporting environments.

From 1 July 2020, Sport Integrity Australia assumed responsibility for child safeguarding for the sport sector.

We are developing a culture of intolerance of sexual abuse and harassment, in obstacle sports under the guidance of the World OCR Safe Sport Committee.

At AFOS we believe education and awareness are critical to creating safe and respectful sporting environments, free of abuse and harassment. Just like World OCR, we at AFOS follow best practices, policies and programs consistent with guidance from leading organizations.

See below for IOC training modules on harassment and abuse in sport.
