My name Is Andrew Falconer, I was born with one arm and a half arms, my right arm ends just under my elbow, and i have no arch or forefeet on both feet , just stumps, but that’s never stopped me. I have been involved in sport all my life, whether it was on the beach in summer , like any other kid grown up on the coast going to Nippers (junior life saving) I competed in little athletics that created a drive in me that still burns today,
to do my best and enjoy it at the same time. Played Volleyball and softball throughout high school and in 1989 was selected to represent Australia at the F.E.S.P.I.C games (far east south pacific international competition) in Kobe ,Japan as part of the Amputee Athletic team ,the equivalent of the able bodied Commonwealth Games. After Athletics, I turned my life towards Cycling, both Track (velodrome ) and Road, represented New South Wales and was part of the early talented athlete program. I have 12 Australian National Titles in road, track, and individual time trial Road races. Obstacle course racing is my latest and most challenging desire, I have competed in several Spartan Races , Sprint 5 km, Super 10km and Beast 21 km races, and done a few Hurricane Heats as well. My passion for OCR is to push myself harder than what I think my body is capable to, the body will do what the brain allows it, a strong determination , mindset, and of course an attitude of “never quit, never stop, just get it done”, and finishing what I started is what makes me a winner; not just a medal.
I hope to bring these attributes to para OCR and for us to show case that anyone can achieve their goals, all you got to do is be at the start line.
